There's no place

like home

A Rescue Dog

Now I have arrived at your home,

everything is strange, and I don't feel good.

Do not feel impatient

if I don't sleep in my new basket.

Yesterday, I  slept on a stone floor.

Do not get angry if I pee on your floor.

Yesterday, it did not matter.

Do not be sad if I am afraid if your loving hand.

Yesterday, I did not have one.

Have patience with me. It's your world,

but not yet mine.

If I trust you, I can give you the greatest

gift I have to give....

My heart.

Please never forget, I was a pound pup.

All I need is a bit of time to adjust.

At Golden Paw Animal Sanctuary and Rescue we believe there is no place like home - a safe, loving, forever home.

As a private no-kill rescue shelter, Golden Paw is a shepherd of animals that are in need of help - the unwanted, the abused or neglected, the strays, and those that can no longer be afforded or need homes because of the health or deaths of their owners. We feed and shelter them, address any health issues, and ensure they are spayed or neutered and vaccinated until they can be adopted to forever homes.

That wasn't our original intent when we opened as a boarding and grooming business more than 20 years ago. Our direction dramatically changed in May 2011 when a historic EF-5 tornado struck our community, killing 161 people. Golden Paw helped comb streets for injured and lost animals, attempting to reunite them with their owners and, when unsuccessful, turning them over to the ASPCA for further care. We also provided free temporary shelter for pets until their owners could get their lives in order following the tornado. All of that was a turning point for Golden Paw. The following year, we began a transition to a no-kill rescue shelter. While our registered nonprofit name is Paws for Possibilities, we are better known for our business name, Golden Paw.

Today, we handle an average of 800 adoptions a year.  We continue to offer grooming and boarding services, in addition to rescue services.
